BYC Café

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

We had some torrential downpours last night that were ushered in by spectacular lighting displays across the sky. My garden really needed a good soaking but the peas ripped down their fence. I'll have to get another metal post up and tie the fence back up today.

I'm getting my crown reshaped today. I called the dentist and said that sometimes when I bite on something, it hurts, slightly. The pain is not much, maybe a 1 or 2 out of 10. I mentioned that what I was biting was NOT hard, it was an almond. We'll see what they can do.

I try to be proactive when it comes to my health. It is so much better to take care of what you have than to have to fix it if it breaks.

If your crown is new it is not uncommon for it to need minor adjustments. They make you bite down on a dye stick to find out where the high spots are and then gently file them down. It's always very effective. Good luck!

Enjoying another good soaking.
The third bed in from the left is the bed that contains the peas. I got their fence back up and secured to metal fence posts just in time.

Good Morning

Having a tall tea now, so very cold, I am reluctant to get out of the house, walk into the garden to let my feather kids out.

It was windy yesterday, I did not spend much time in the garden, I hope for no wind today.

@DobieLover - your garden looks so nice, very orderly and green. I love the green lawn.
Cold Stone Creamery cakes - Ice cream cake is perfect for your spring warm weather now.

I will try to stir my compost bins today.

My Basil girl's vent lower lip is a bit protruded, each day she is pushing out a big egg. The only treat I give my flock now is green leafs & mix sprouted grains. 13, but only 2 laying hens.

The feed I am feeding my flock do not have the added thing to make the egg bigger. As far as I know, all other feed have this thing added for larger egg. Next level is going organic, I rather not go there.

Now I can only hope that her body sort out the internal laying...I am only guessing that because there was no egg that day and her tummy is hot, other are not.

Have a great day all.

We had a Clock Doc come to look at one of our grandfather clocks. It's the one that hubby's dad built from a kit in 1976. The doc said their life span is usually around 35, so it's not at all surprising that at 49, he's not running anymore.

We had two options. (The third of doing nothing was not an option. We are getting it fixed.)

#1. Doc repairs it as it is. He said he didn't think he'd even get to it before February.

#2. He gets a new movement and installs that instead. The clock face would stay the same. He thought it would be a month to get one ordered and delivered.

Both are about the same cost. About $1200. We are going with #2.

I was really impressed with this guy, really liked him. We're going to have him clean/maintain our Howard Miller clock that we bought from the owner of the company we used to work for. He said he can do that when he comes out to install the new movement on Grandpa.

Howard Miller clock company announced it is closing soon. I asked this guy what he thought about that. His answer: He was surprised that they were able to hang on this long.
