BYC Café

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! One more day of heat and then cooler with rain predicted for us.
We survived our heat adventures. DH was feeling a little puny when we were heading home so I made him take some electrolytes and drink more water. Part of his issue was no protein for breakfast, just a cinnamon roll at the diner.
I won the muck battle and it should start drying out now with a new channel for the water overflow cut in.
My Pulaski tool to the rescue!
Anyway, I am off to take DAF to a ... you guessed it , doc appt.
Enjoy the day, Cafe! Stay warm and dry out there!

Good Morning,

Coffee is ready.

It was so humid over here yesterday, and now is freeze to the bone.

Yesterday 2 of my hens were fighting each other, they are in separate areas and one got into the other area and the fight was vicious. The rest of the flock stood watching. My J bantam screamed and I ran down to find those 2 were fighting. When I go into the run, the flock dispersed. I let them fought to determine the victor thus end this domination issue.

My Wyandotte -Goldie used her body to bulldoze the Isa Brown-Big Mouth out of the way. BM stretched out her neck which making her taller and pecked Goldie right in the face. I can see that Goldie will be injured so I stopped the fight.

BM was huffing and puffing as I removed her. Goldie was shaking. I held Goldie for awhile to settle her. I told her that bulldozing is not a good fight strategy...

A few hours later......some how BM got into Goldie's run and they were at it again. I was in there and turned around seeing them at it, this time Goldie stretched out her neck making her looking taller and they were trying to peck at each other faces. I picked up BM and Goldie was following me, she wanted to fight on.

In the rain, we found the spot how BM got into this run and blocked it. Then later she jumped out of her run, went over to the other run and was trying to find way to get in.

I wanted them to fight until the victor is prevailed, but this mean serious injury to both so that can not happen.

Goldie is Queen of her run, and BM is Queen of her run. There was no leader after their rooster gone and now there are 3. My 4 bantams also have a leader Agent K, who is a Pekin hen cute as a muffin. (Not the tiny rooster)

I have hen laying soft shell egg, hen that nested but no egg, and hens fighting each other for backyard domination. 😄

Have a wonderful day all.

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

I was awakened around 2:30 by the very pungent stench of a skunk. All windows were closed. This is the first time I've had any sign of a skunk up here on the hill since we bought the place. Later I'm going to take a peek under the deck to make sure one didn't go under there to die.
