BYC Café

Awesome. Your body is still working enough to let you get sore doing what you want. I like feeling sore muscles. It's better than when I felt weak.
Very true! Actually, just moving around this morning has loosened them up quite a bit.
HTG is coming over tonight to help Truvi join Fabio and his growing flock in the Great Beyond.
I'm so sorry about Truvi.

That is why we will section off the 4-5,000m2 for our new plot even though we do no longer need as much garden and woodland.
It will ensure a safe distance and guarantee us privacy.
I totally agree! We bought "the field" and "the old house" so that a)we had more space, and b)nobody else bought them, split them up, and built several houses. Probably the best $55K we spent, after the $96K we paid to buy our house 31 years ago.

The amounts seem laughably low now. The last house that sold here two years ago sold for $510K and has only 2-ish acres.

IKR! My house sits on just under 1 1/4 acre with a detached 2 car garage. After the mudroom addition, it's sq footage is just 1102. It is now a 2 bedroom 2 bath. In today's market, it would easily sell for $200,000!! Everything is newer because we took it to the studs, re-wired/re-plumbed and used higher quality materials to finish it because we knew this would be our retirement home. I have Trex decking and higher end siding and windows for example. We even had a brand new septic system installed in the spring of 2017 and I replaced the well pump, tube and wiring about 6 years ago.
We bought the property for $29,000. We've put about $80,000 into it.

HTG is coming over tonight to help Truvi join Fabio and his growing flock in the Great Beyond. I have no earthly idea what is wrong with this hen but she's been very slowly getting weaker as the months have passed. I've been watching her for some time. She couldn't go up the ramp last night to get on the boards to sleep so I've made my decision. She is one of the 6-year-olds.
Good decision to not let her suffer any longer.

When I left to run errands this afternoon, I could see most of Astrid's brood lounging just outside the run in the grass. At first I thought their mother was with them. But I was wrong. One of the new black pullets was snuggled up with the littles. I thought that was very cute! And it's a good sign that the youngest members of the flock are integrating beautifully with the rest of them.

I still haven't seen any shenanigans out of the boys. With the sheer number of them out there you would think that they would have been after the hens by now. But maybe because of the sheer number of them that are out there none of them wants to be the one to make the first move and receive the wrath of the rest.

Good Morning,
1st cup of coffee...and frozen croissant is in the oven and chickens are screaming.

I am having a hard time making decision about my tiny rooster because he is making rattling breathing sound here and there only on a cold day. In between that he jumps everywhere, crow his mighty loud crows, spread out his wings in the sunshine & eat like a pig. Perhaps the warmer weather will help so we just keep him until the weather gets warmer to see how he goes. He already done 3 lots of Mavlab Oxymav B.

Other than that my chicken runs are rodent infested. So I have been working on it....I am seeing less rodent poops every day, but I am sure they are there, I am just not seeing it.

The housing price over here is just simply silly, I don't know how much people have to earn to pay for that giant mortgage.

Have a great day all.
