BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I am much more confident that I have 3 boys and 3 girls in Astrid's batch. But one of those girls is a dom white so I will sell her next spring with a black cockerel I will keep through the winter. He will also be used to stand over my 3 black pullets starting mid-March. I will hatch out another dozen eggs from them and hope the god of pullets smiles on my next year.

I will be bringing the current dom white cockerel, 2 black cockerels and (gasp!) my absolutely stunning ermine cockerel to the swap this Sunday. The ermine is serious eye candy. The 2 ermine girls have chosen him and roost with him every night. He reminds me a lot of Fabio in his behavior without the assholery. But I have 2 more ermine boys from Astrid along with a dominant white. These boys will be the flock roosters. I hope they can all get along.
Good morning! Thanks for the coffee! I hope all goes the way you want it to with your birds! I l liked your bad behavior description, assholery! Lol 😂

I would keep him! 🙂
I might. I'll have to see how Astrid's boys grow up. As a whole, her brood is far more interactive with me because she and I have a long history together so she's always allowed them to take food from me, be near me, etc.

Her hatch daughter, Savannah, hatched out the older batch from which captain gorgeous is from. Since the day they hatched, mom kept them to herself and they would not approach me. They are now 5 months old. Up until a couple of weeks ago, whenever I threw a handful of scratch out they would freak out and run as if I was throwing acid on them.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee.
I can't! I just can't. I'll wait until spring. He is just too good! He is also running off the rapists. I need him to keep the horny toads in line. And did I mention his crow!? What a fantastic crow!... (I think I'm in love)
I, who does not mind the business of others, was going to suggest this. It will give you time to further evaluate his temperament and that of the cockerels in the second brood.

The object of my affection.

These pictures just don't do him justice. He has the most amazing emerald sheen on his black feathers when he's in the sunlight.

Good Morning,🌻☀️

Coffee is ready and I am ❤️ reading stories of your flock and roosters DL. That is a handsome rooster that your heart set on.

I have 2 broody hens and I am feeling broody myself because of that. I reminded myself every moment that I want to put some eggs under my broody hens, that I can not manage anymore than my current flock.

Tiny rooster was chasing the big hen and the small hen yesterday afternoon. They ran away from him screaming. Tiny and short legs that he is, he jumps, fly and leap and bound chasing the girls. I stopped him. I had a rooster before, and he managed the flock. Once he gone, my flock was chaotic for a long time. Now they settled and unwantedly being chase by a fury tiny duster...might be they settled because they heard him crow? He was isolated for over 2 months.

My tiny rooster is so small that I can hold his whole frame in 1 hand, he is friendly, very talkative, funny looking and emotionally needy which make me want to make him feels love.

The hot weather has arrived with the dusty wind so it is not hot at all. I got a good tan while hanging out my laundry, I thought 😎 ..good tan and skin cancer come hand in hand in this part of the world...all jokes aside, we do have a high rate of skin cancer over here!

Have a great day all❤️
