I am so over the frigid cold and wind. A possible high of 27° next week sounds lovely!
When I take Freya out first thing in the morning, I unlock the front door. We go in and out the mudroom door, and every now and then, it locks itself. Or maybe I unconsciously lock it, but after the first time it happened, I paid more attention. So maybe it does it, maybe I do it. At these temps, I do not want to be locked out of my house.
About ten years ago, we had a cold snap. There was a story on the news about a woman who went to get the mail without a coat and accidentally locked herself out. She broke a window to try to get back in, cut her arm badly, and bled to death on her front porch.
We have a spare key hidden outside, but I don't want to have to go get it. Unlocking the front door is a faster solution if I'm out walking the dog.
