I am sorry to see chat go. I do understand the decision tho. So where do we go from here?
Is it possible to have a chat on a different service? say MIRC or something like that? I would hate to loose chat all together there are ways to do chat without involving site resources and get moderators to police chat. I think we may just need to look down different avenues.

I am sorry I guess I was not clear that is what I was suggesting. could we advertize a chat for chickens that does not carry the BYC name Chat would still be available but BYC would not have to deal with it.

I'm among those who tried chat a few times and left after a short period -- usually because I got bored, in my case.

Did you know that BYC has a Facebook page? And that from there, you can create a group chat and invite the people from BYC that you want to?
