He could get a degree in vehicle structure engineering, Ryan Newman did it. He's the driver for the #12 alltel dodge in the NASCAR Cup series.

My fav. driver too!

I think the biggest part of the whole NASCAR gig is getting one of the team owners to notice you. I know they scout the open wheel and the midget races, because a lot of the drivers come from those series.

I don't know if it's the acrylic yarn, the hook I'm using, or me, but I tend to not grab all of the strand and have to back up and go again because of it.

I'm using the pink hook that came with the "I taught myself Crochet" book kit. I can't remember what size it is. The square actually measured half an inch short, so I could have gone another round.

Tiki - I've got two other gradient colors, waterfall and southwestern (not the real name, but I can't remember it). I thought I'd switch out because I tend to get bored if I do the same thing over and over again.

I really like that fisherman's knot pattern, but I gotta get this basic shell pattern down first! lol

In September we will have an official signup list of everyone that wants to participate in a crocheted granny square swap. Everyone that signs up will make as many 6" granny squares...any pattern, any colors...as there are people on the list. Everyone will send their completed squares on the assigned date to Mawchikkade and she will sort them and send them back to everyone so that each persona will end up with one square from each person to do with as they like!! That's the story and I'm stickin to it!! LOL!! It was a huge success in the spring and will probably continue to be a twice annual BYC affair.

In addition, there are alot of people making crocheted and knitted items for charity..such as: preemie hats; preemie blankets; preemie booties and chemo caps for kids. No final decision has been made yet on exactly which charity will receive the completed items but they will all be tagged in some way to indicate that they were made by BYC members and they will all be distributed somewhere before Christmas and pictures obtained to bring back and share with the contributors here on line. There is another thread for the charity items

I just want to get a couple of things clear in my mind.
Do we have to do one pattern for all the squares we send?
Do we have to use the same colors for all the squares?

Thanks,
Jean

P.S. I've got 11 done and I am really enjoying doing this. DH thought I spent a lot of time on BYC, but everytime he turns around now, I'm crocheting!!!

Hey Jean! Isn't it fun once you get into it! That's great that you already have 11 complete.

I know the rules for the last swap was to do the same pattern for all of the squares.

I'm not sure if Mawchick wants us to use the same color combo for all of them or not?

Hopefully she'll see this and answer that one.

We will do as many squares as the amount of people that sign up, so each person participating can get one square from each person.

Find a way to mark your squares to show that they are from you w/ username. I printed off a contact sheet of my avatar, punched a hole in the corner of my pic & tied it to the corner of each of my squares to mark mine for the last swap.

I finally figured out the new sunflower patter, but really wanted to throw it against the wall a few times.

Great job, isn't it fun!

I don't want to speak for Maw but the reason I had everyone use the same pattern was to help identify..if we are marking them anyway it shouldn't matter, but she needs to make that final decision, doesn't matter to me, mine are all the traditional grannies anyway but some may want to mix it up. I like the marking them with somekind of tag idea..that list and trying to stack them to match didn't work very well..especially if I put the stack upside down in the box!!!
