EastTNChick and Lewisfarmgurl Welcome and we are glad to have you and would enjoy looking at any pics you want to post. eastTNchick I will add you to the list.
lewisfarmgurl just let us know when your ready to join the swap we will be more than glad to have you.

Scrambled, I am still waiting to find the purfect fabric to use to make the insides of all mine and i think I have found it at www.quiltinghen.com of craftinghen.com I don't remember now, well I will buy it tonight or in the morning and I will post the name of the site, but it is a blue background fabric with chickens holding knitting needles and yarn making things, I know its knitting and not crocheting needles but thats the closest I could get to crocheting so I guess I will get it, it will look super cool with the colors I have and They have a purple background that will work great with the girls purses well I will post an updated list tomorrow sometime night ya'll maw.

Scrambled...that bag is wonderful!
Those squares look so nice, I'm just making the traditional squares for the swap. I'm not ready for those fancy ones yet!

What method do all you experts use when changing colors?
I'm not sure I'm attaching the new color to my chain 3 corner correctly.
I make my slip knot, (not on the hook), I put the end of the hook into the chain 3 space, I then put the slip knot on the hook, then make a sc stitch around the chain. Then I start with my next stitch.

Also, when I slip stitch a color to end it, I end up with a small bump instead of a straight side, is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Can someone let me know next time ya'll are doing a swap. I missed the last one, found it the week after it closed. I knit and crochet, and am currently trying to figure out how to convert patterns between the two and how to knit socks. I recently figured out how to crochet off a grid pattern. I get bored with large projects, so I make lots of squares, and have different projects going all the time.

Well, that bag is definatley BIG..one too many rows really to be a good tote bag and it's hippy as my family says, lol! It will be convenient though.

Jean I am making traditional grannies too for the swap. When you change colors lay the new piece beginning by the old piece end and pretend they are one strand and hook as usual...do nothing differnet, you just have about an inch of two layers of yarn..see if that works..if not.look at crocehtcabana for adding/changing colors, forgeot how it was worded exactly.

I used felt on the inside of mine Maw, course I am NOT a seamstress so anything needing a hem or proper joining was def. out, lol!!

Greenapple..the swap wont actually START until September..so start your squares now and you will be soo ahead of the game..Maw can add you to the list now and you're all set!

I have alot of my squares finished and alot of them partially finished. I plan to do an equal number of several and hook them together. I am still using the cotton worsted weight, even some pretty purples. Yesterday at lunch I went to Michaels and found that sugar and cream yarn I'm using 10 for 10 dollars...soooo, I have plenty of yarn now, lol!!! I'll take pics of my squares this weekend. I also have that christmas acrylic I am using too. I need to figure how Smitty's Farm printed those cutie tags for her squares, hint, hint!!!! Card stock? Looked like photo finish on them and how did you get so many on one page to make printing and cutting easier?

Ya'll can see from the list that you have to make at least 21 squares...right now that is!! I expect folks to put down their garden tools in the fall and come in ready to craft in the fall and the list will fill back up again...so better get ahead of the game and get started now!!!

Scrambled, I did use photo finish paper to print my avatar pic to tag my granny squares, but card stock would probably work just fine. I just used the contact sheet print setting w/ 4 pics across and a row of 6. It fills the page w/ pics. You can also adjust the setting to fit more pics across, but it would make each pic a little smaller. Does that make sense?

I just used a pair of scrap booking scissors to cut them with and hole puncher to punch a hole at the corner to tie them to the square. It would be easy to use one of those sliding paper cutting boards to cut them.

I'm going to do the same thing this go round, but may print them from photo shop, so I can add my username to the pic.

Sorry I haven't been around, but dd schedule has been super busy. She's leaving for camp on Sun., so I should have some free time for crocheting & BYC next week.

I'll post a pic soon of how I marked them for the last swap.

OK, back to page one with this thread. I finished 3 squares this morning. Not sure yet whether I will use just the basic pattern or not. I have used three different colors so far.

Are y'all using bright colors or dark or a mixture?
idunno.gif
Just curious. I have several bits and pieces to choose from.

Beverly

The sunflower pattern one I did in bright yarn, but I'm not sure if I'm going to still do that pattern or try a diff one.

Good question??????

I know it's scrap yarn theme, but was also curious what people want?
