Well, ladies and gents, I am officially unemployed again.
I went to the administrator a week ago and told him that if he could not work with the director of nursing to discipline the habitual call-off offenders, there was no way I would be able to get the staffing under control. They did nothing. Do you know, there is a girl that has worked there EIGHT MONTHS and has 17 call offs and NO DISCIPLINARY ACTION TAKEN?
I got the schedule to the point that there are enough girls on each floor, plus 2 extra aides that split their time between the 4 floors, a dream if people would actually SHOW UP FOR WORK!!!!!!!!!!!
I had 15 girls scheduled for 3-11 today. By 10:45, I had 4 call-offs. Okay, I thought, we can still do this, re-arranged a bit, asked a 7-3 girl to work an extra shift, she'd been looking for overtime. Came back from my quick 15 minute lunch break to a voicemail ... another call-off. Don't these people need money for Christmas?
Then, as I'm on the phone with the voicemail call-off, my voicemail light comes on again - yep, you guessed it, another call-off.
So, I went from 2 over to 4 under-staffed. My 7-3 girl who was going to stay over came in and backed out of the shift, can you blame her?
And the budget is so tight up there they won't let me call registry.
So, after mandating 4 girls for overtime, at the end of my shift, I walked over to the administrator's office, because, you know, the D.O.N. is NO WHERE to be found, and told him I could no longer subject myself to the stress the job held, and he said he understood, I resigned, cleaned out what few things I'd taken into my office, and came home.
*sigh*
So, we'll be broke again, and soon, but my husband has been telling me to leave for three days, so we'll work through it.
Anyways - on a bright note ... I have more BYC time!!
Night, ladies.
