hey, at least you are in KY. are you going to the WEG in 2010? I really wish I could go but I don't think I can because of school etc. Besides it's halfway across the country.

I usually try to go to at least one evening session of the World Championship Horseshow every year. They also have some free events during the day that you can attend during the show. It is held during the State Fair here in Kentucky. I especially love watching the harness classes and the 5 Gaited classes.

hollyclyff, don't let the lack of lessons get you down. Some of the best training I've done has been on my own, just feeling the interaction of forces. There's no shame in using books as a guide. How long did you train before you took a hiatus?

AQHA and APHA horses for 30 years shown in various events , also schooled on cutting and reining by some of the big guys. WOrked for various vets (repro and embryo transfer)and farriers to learn all I could. I also managed and worked at a few hunter/jumper farms in FL.. you could say horses are my life..but i love my chickies...

Horse height lesson!!!!!!! I see a few errors in measurements..

There are 4 inches in a hand so once you reach for example 16.3 you roll over to 17hh there is no such height as 16.5. ...I think some folks get confused and think there is a full 12 inches in a "hand"

... also...

If you measure your height and know the number of inches tall you are and divide by 4 you will know how many hands tall you are so when you walk up to a horse and guestimate a horses height.
