BYC Evolution

I remember making an account a couple years back thinking, "...huh, this site will probably come in handy."
Who knew it would become so much more- an obsession, a place to talk with friends, a life line at times and a vast wealth of knowledge.

I feel like with anything else though, as it grows it's bound to change, immensely. Sometimes for the better, sometimes I find myself wishing for the past...
I don't think I've ever stuck with something this consistently for 2+ years. Ha!

Wow this is very interesting. I don't get on here much anymore, just occasionally lurking around to find out an answer to an all important question. My member # is 10,488,..I registered right after i got my first chickens from MM hatchery. I remember how excited I was,...seems funny now. That was many chickens ago,.....I miss being on here and talking to old buds and the new guys too,...UUUUHHHHHHH! I am getting old!!!

Does it seem that there are a lot more "youngsters" on these days? Not saying that's a bad thing, and I'm glad there are young folks interested in raising poultry. But I do think they love to see their threads with lots of pages and regularly post on their own threads negligible information just to bump it back up to the top for more comments.

I do agree that there doesn't seem to be the substance in many of the posts that there was a couple of years ago. Example...the genetics discussions were very informative and active. Now it's a bunch of "see my chickens" threads...and I guess that's the way of a message board. I'll try to find another with a bit more substantial information and continue to enjoy BYC for exactly what it is!

I'm probably just being a cantankerous old fart

I see the same thing on the SS forum. All the original members have already posted all the info they had to share and it took some time to discuss it, the pros and cons, what has worked or not, etc. Then, as new members kept coming, some of the info was rehashed due to their questions. Now, its just tiresome to answer the same questions time and again. Now I get a feeling of....do a search instead of asking, come up with a new perspective, something new and original....anything to keep our interests, but be fresh.

Hey cool................ I like the idea's, I think mine is #10364. BYC Old School LOL.
