Quote: Thanks the reason I was asking is I sometimes buy plants or seeds off ebay and I don't want to use someone that is selling the wrong plants.
I am sorry they are not working out for you. I would take pics and show them and tell them this is not what I ordered and see what they say. I would not hurt to try.
If they have a nursery maybe someone made a mistake and they might fix it.

Have you tried making pecan syrup from your trees before? I have and hickory syrup and they are to die for! The hickory is great on fish and chicken and everything in between!

Quote: No. I took pecans and just cracked them open a dumped the whole nut and shells into a pot of water and boiled it until the water was the deep color of the inside of the shell. Then you measure out the liquid after straining the shells and nuts out. And for every cup of pecan liquid you add 2 cups of sugar and let it boil to a full rolling boil for about 4 minutes. Then add it to your jars and process in a water bath caner.

Hickory is different you peel some of the shag bark off the tree and break it up to fit in a large pot. You cook it all day. Then strain it three times! Very important thru cheese cloth.
Then the same as the pecan 2-c sugar to 1-c hickory. Boil and process the same as the pecan and voila!
