'Parently some varieties of marigold get up to 5 ft tall.

I have not, might be worth a shot though.

They're Crackerjack marigolds which are african and supposed to get 2 to 3 ft tall. At the rate they're growing they'll be bigger then my tree in a few weeks.

. You must have very good soil. I have some flowers growing in pig dirt and they are pretty big. I have some French marigolds that are huge.

Update on the tomato cutting I did on 4-28 . Look at the roots . Ready to plant in the garden . Weather has been up and down . Down to 40 tonight . So I will wait a few more days . They will not grow much outside at those temps . So not really loosing much time . The Original has new shoots started .

That's in bagged soil from Walmart, hummus ans cow manure. (I did water it with rabbit poop tea a few times.)

Where I'm moving you can't grow very many plants because of the weather. It's right on the shore, so it's very exposed. Does anyone know any good trees or bushes etc, which would do well in these conditions? We're going to try and make a walled garden, by digging down a foot or two, and making the stone walls about a foot higher than they currently are, and then buying a greenhouse to grow cucumbers and tomatoes and such. We can also grow root vegetables there too, as they're protected from the winds. Thanks.

Awesome progress! Now if you'd planted seeds to get more plants on 4/28, they'd barely be sprouting by now. Excellent way to double your plants. Here's some food for thought: If one were to take some leggy seedlings, I bet they could easily get 3 plants out of them!

Nice to have rabbit poop. I picked up some stable bedding to use this weekend. It was full of goat nuggets, and horse buns.

Where are you moving to? What plant zone? With some protection, you should be able to grow lots of stuff. You might want to research: hay or straw bale gardening, square foot gardening. This book should provide lots of information to help you get started in your new location.
