It looks like you skipped a row and started knitting on a purl side... does that make sense? My pattern wasn't the best or most professional

I thought your pattern was very easy to read (specially considering I had no idea what I was doing)

I think I understand what you mean. It makes perfect sense that I missed one about half way down which made the rest of it backwards. LOL

I want my son to write a program that will display one instruction at a time like, you click the mouse and it says

Cast On 40
<click>
KNIT 40
<click>
PURL 10
<click>
KNIT 3

and so on. That way, I wouldn't get messed up.

ETA: Over on the side it could keep count of what row you are on, and what stitch per row... that would be very handy.

So, from reading my first pattern, it seems like you could make up a pattern using graph paper somewhat like you make a cross stitch pattern. You would just have to make sure each row was backwards to the one on top of it... .or something like that.

That's how I did it

Graphed it out and then started on the left and worked my way left to right, then right to left and so forth

I've been meaning to see if there is a knitting program anywhere.... would be cool to include some fancier stitches in the designs

I'm working on a hat... but I also have the crochet Granny Square swap, possibly the quilting swap, not to mention swap items to finish up art-wise
