Quote: Oh, no, not ruffled at all!!....see my stoic delivery comes off that way at times.
I have a very dry humor that's often missed even in person...does not translate well at all in text.
Hated the heat down there, N.Fla, and all the 'bugs that never die'...came back to my beloved Michigan snow belt.
Second person plural. It is just proper English.

When I had Latin in high school we had to conjugate verbs, The snobby girls would always snicker when I said 'you all'... run read speak or whatever.
It wasn't even a southern y'all.
Now, I use what I like. y'all.
Exactly, tho I really don't know that technical terms for language components.

Well, I feel better. My DH is the king of dry, sarcastic humor.
Know what ya mean about text communication…written word can be open to multiple interpretations

But join the caravan and come at least to Middle GA. I actually live a little above Macon on the Piedmont Plateau - we have no bugs, never any harsh weather, and no crime

I think that all participants will need to buy a pair of running shoes and go on a daily run with me. This trip sounds fattening.

Umm, is something scary going to be chasing us?

I'm proudly from the South---Southern Oregon

I visited my sister in Fayetteville (Arkansas) in 2013. I called the drive home The Great Turtle Massacre, it was horrible the way those little things got run down. Course, I came home with leukemia, so that wasn't the bestest trip ever...

Rachel, that trip sounds like a nightmare...road kill and leukemia?!?! I recommend you stay away from Arkansas. We'll make sure the BYC Tour Bus goes around it!

Hi @Mutt Farm , thanks for dropping by and the kind words! Did you visit Key West when you were little or did you live there?

The chickens there will always be some of my fondest memories. I briefly worked at a gift shop down on Mallory Square and we used to get swamped with chickens on stock unpacking day. The store I worked at was an open air market so shipments of stock had to be unloaded in the open at the back of the store. Those crazy chickens would come around trying to get the Styrofoam from the boxes; that's when I learned they don't always know what's good for them. We used to rescue chicks that sometimes fell down drainage grates while their little hen mamas would pace close by. And once we had a hen hatch her brood way under one of the tables that backed up to a tree. Sometimes we had to tell vacationing parents to not let their running wild kids chase the chickens, but mostly the tourists were as entranced as we were with them.

My husband and I had a small store in Old Town and for a while we had a rooster that liked to parade back and forth in front of our door. He was beautiful but didn't appreciate customers as much as we did (he didn't want them crossing his path into our store) so he had to be gently discouraged to move on.

All kinds of great memories of living there and the chicken related ones are some of the best!

Thank you right back! As a newbie, when you see all the replies, it's hard to know if and when it's ok to comment. I SO wanted to complain about @aart 's grammar! If ya don't say Y'all, ya can't say "folks'. Anyhoo, I lived in Ft Lauderdale from age 2 - 18 with a couple interruptions back to Michigan. We'd go to the keys as kids a couple times a month. I was the brat that didn't chase the chickens too badly! I just wanted to pet one. I remember chickens and peanut butter waffles.

Feel free to jump in any time is how I see it!

P.S. Thanks for not chasing the chickens, lol.
