Well, today I did the Ronald Reagan thing and took down the wall! Now that everyone is dry and a little steadier on their feet, they are getting along fine. I am thoroughly enjoying seeing their curiousity- pecking at everything, like what's that, can I eat it?
The last one to hatch, which I think was an Orp/Cochin, has matted feathers on her back. I may try a little work with warm water and a paper towel tonight. She's not as steady as the rest.
They are adorable, and Bec, I'm sorry I couldn't get a better hatch, not your fault! Now that I know how the horrible humidity swings affect the incubator, I will be better prepared next time!
Well I am glad you are happy with them! I can't wait to see them grow!
I am a new Grandma AGAIN today! There is a BYC member who is local and she PM'd me today to tell me that her DBH's are hatching today under her broody!!! So far she has a blue and what sounds like a splash. 1 more has pipped and she is expecting 2 more after that! She bought 5 eggs, placed them under her silkie hen and when she candled last week, there were babies is all of them! I am hoping all of her hatch! Seems like these DBH's are doing better under broodies.
That's one of 2 yellow rat snakes that live here- they are allowed one egg per day. It's an agreement we worked out last year. They are quite skillful at negotiating.
