BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

Yes, that's them...
I've seen one in person, and 2 in a photo....
I liked the look...saw one in a picture with baby colors...
what are their level of difficulty?

Very simple. The only problem with them is your hand hurts after snipping them so they get ragged when you wash them. If you'd like I can make a quick post of directions for you.

Hey all I am making purses for my daughters and a few friends. I would like to make a wallet to go with them but am having a time finding a nice one with a free pattern. I too am feeling the crunch from the economy.

I asked on the crafters thread and got a nice site for wallets but no free patterns. I am impossiable when it comes to search engines, couldn't find anything there either.

Thanks all.

I don't know if you need this, but here it is:

How to make a rag quilt:
Cut your fabric into squares. I use 6 1/2" blocks. Cut batting into squares one inch smaller than your fabric blocks. So 5 1/2"

Center batting on fabric square. Place second fabric square on top of batting. I mark mine with an X.

Sew along X marked on fabric.

Place two squares together, and sew. I use a 1/2" seam here. Basically you want to sew right along the batting, but not have it be in the seam.

Continue to sew blocks to make rows, then rows together to make quilt.

The back will be flat, the top will have all the seams pointing upwards.

Clip seam every 1/4 to 1/2". Clip close to stitching line, without clipping the stitching.

Wash and dry. Sometimes it take more than one cycle.

And then you have a rag quilt. I usually use homespuns, but some use flannel. I don't think the flannel frays as much.

OOOOOOOOOOOOH I want in tooo! I taught my self to quilt about 16 years ago. I used to crochet but couldn't get that "flip" I used to have in my arm and wrist after I broke it very badly.

Here is my old webpage that has a bunch of my first quilts on it. I haven't updated it in a very long time. Just click on the litle quilt patches to take you to the different quilts.

Right now I am working on a Pink Ribbon Quilt for me (part of my healing process) and a smaller one for my Doc. I've got gazillions of UFO's and started quilts all over the house. I've got a 12ft x8ft bookshelf that holds nothing but fabric and the closet in my spare/sewing room is full of boxes of scraps!! A great place to get fabric is FreeCycle!! Old Sheets make great backings batting. (so do old blankets!)

Would love to share patterns, tips, hints, and fabric/patch swaps!!!

PS I am not allowed to go to MaryJo's Fabric store in Gastonia NC by myself or with the debit card
