I have a (fairly) new neighbor and you have inspired me to do something similar for them! No veggies because we've had 60 days of 100+ degree heat this summer, but I -DO- have eggs and a pattern for a chicken potholder.

thanks for the idea!!

Just happened to stop by Hobby Lobby today. They had all McCall's patterns for 99 cents, limit of 10 per customer. So I was a good customer and got 10! Time to get the machine busy.

I know. I was just looking at a nice one at the fabric store a week or so ago. I don't know why I didn't go ahead and get it. I have really sharp scissors that I got from my my great grandmothers sewing stuff when she died and I guess I just really enjoy using them.....a rotary cutter would've been so nice for cutting out all those triangles though for sure

I made mine based on two chicken potholders I've had for 25+ years made by "Pueblo to People". But here is a pattern I found on the web that is similar: http://tipnut.com/chicken-pot-holder-vintage-pattern/

While
looking for the "Pueblo to People" site I found this site that sells handwoven cloth with latin-american designs. Probably not suitable for quilting unless some anti-fray liquid was used. Just in case you are interested: http://www.coloresdelpueblo.org/AboutUs.htm

Here is a link to a guatemalan chicken pot holder:
http://www.tipicoslety.com/prod1.ph...a cocina&price=2.00&prname=Chicken pot holder

...I'm sure more than you ever wanted to know about chicken pot holders!

..I used to have a pattern like this..I believe it was from Annies Attic or Dillons Dolls..can't find it..which isn't surprising since there have been 4-5 moves over those 30 yrs since I remember making them..believe i may have to try drawing one out and making them again!!..thanks for reminding me of it..
