BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

I love that pj idea, very sweet, when I have grandkids...many moons from now I hope!! I'll make them one...and baby quilts...and crocheted blankets...and onesies with applique and diaper covers and shopping cart covers and whatever else I can think of!!.....that is part of my retirement thinking in ten years, haha!! They are 19 and 21 now and in college so no babies for several years but it'll be fun for me when it happens. So many cute baby things to make!

That's what I'm enjoying about being retired, or at least semi retired. I have more time for my fun things. If I get a chance to dig in the blanket chest I'll pull out the pajama bag and take a photo. It would be simple to make. My mother embroidered pixies and birds and flowers on mine all in chain stitch.

I saved the outfits my grandmother made for each of my sons. The older son's outfit was given to his son for Christmas on a teddy bear I made to fit the outfit (took me three tries to get the bear right!) Anyway, I made a scrapbook page to go with it and on the page had a picture of my grandmother and a picture of my son wearing the outfit the Christmas she gave it to him. I was kinda proud of myself when I got it done. Now, the other son's son is five y/o and still doesn't have a bear dressed in daddy's suit. And DGD is going to have the store-bought suit daddy wore home from the hospital on her bear, if I ever get it made. LOL

I made 6 of those pincushion jars (above in Gwen's post) yesterday, very cute but hard to get the lid to screw all the way closed after getting all that cloth and glue on the cap. Will make a cute co-worker gift I think.

I'm thinking I might make some of those but with a cork top instead and fill them with push pins for friends that don't sew. I wondered how the lids were going to work after the fabric was pulled around them, but haven't tried to make one yet.

That does sounds like a good idea for office/desk use... gluing a circle of cork to the top of a canning lid, then covering THAT with fabric, why not? The fabric can be color coordinated for each person, and yes, I'm assuming it might be a man in this case so it can suit the decor/sports team/fav animal etc etc. (all true for women's desks of course, but men are often harder to handcraft for!) Sounds like a plan!

I've finished a quilt for my grandson since he likes Curious George. I found a small remnant and was able to get six blocks from it and designed a quilt around those.

And I mailed it Tuesday with out taking pictues of the receiving blankets and burp cloths I made for the new baby due Friday. I was in a hurry to make it to FED Ex to get it mailed to arrive before my DD goes in for her C-section. They were so cute. The burp cloths were out of two coordinating fabrics and were bean shaped. The receiving blankets are 40 inch square and are reversible with coordinating fabrics
for a little boy.
