so paper piecing you sew through the paper and then do you ever take that paper off? See I told yall I don't know nothing about all this. But I so want too learn and I believe that when winter sets in, and I have too stay inside too keep from falling around on the slick ground, I will and can learn too make a quilt of some sort. I am enjoying this board and this thread. You all are so helpful.

Yes, you print the design, then cut out the pieces in fabric and the paper, you then sew it all together as the pattern explains, then tear off the paper (which will be on the wrong side)
Okay Im thinking of jumping in yalls pool. I have lots of things from when my crib midget was born till now. And I want to make a quilt out of all the things I couldnt pass on.
My hubby even got me a super duper machine that also embroiders. And well I have used it maybe 3 times lol. I even have a super nice quilt store here in my town owned by a great farm family.
So is there any easy patterns that even I could do? How do I even start? How do you get those squares squared? lol I know Im pretty hopless.
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!
We've caught another one!!! It's adicting. I taught myself and it's just about all I do anymore. Used to crochet, plastic canvas, crewl, etc.... Now I quilt. I've got all kinds of patterns that I want to do, someday. We won't talk about the fabric my husband doesn't know about~
Are you thinking of doing patch work with your kiddo's stuff or would you be interested in doing applique of the items themselves and maybe pass it along when they have a baby?

I'll see if I can get a picture of a quilt a friend made. She saved different outfits of her babies as there grew up, dress daughter came home in, christening gown, first day of school, booties, cub scout scarf.
She had a big square of fabric for each item. She decided how she wanted the item to look. She would then cut the item.
Yeah I know scary to cut a treasure. she would then mount it on WonderUnder or SticheryWitchery, iron it to the big square. If it needed poofy sleeve or somethng, she would stuff a little extra batting under there.
They are beautiful. She has made one of each of her 4 kids to pass down to their kids. I would love to make one for my ma, but I can't get her to give up any of our old stuff, lol
Sounds perfect! I was gonna ask about having to put anything under them so they could be kept in the shapes you cut them in. So good deal one question down and a million to go lol Thanks again to all for the help
