Zookeeper,
My mom made us skirts out of jeans, and I do it for us now. We wear dresses or skirts all the time... and decent length skirts are sometimes hard to find, and when you do they look like something your great grandmother wears... anyway...
Real simple...buy a pair at a yardsale, or 2nd hand store ($.50 or a quarter a pair) so you won't worry...and just try it....
in fact...here is some pictures of my daughters I took them a little while back for my neice.... these are capris...so they make a skirt just below the knees.

There is a good website...I will try to copy it and paste for you...it tells you step by step...
and has a picture of the back seam...sorry I didn't get one...
hope this helps too...

Thank you Gwen, it all helps.

I am so glad to have this site, for sharing as well as when I need help. I will be making these in the new year. I will be using 2 pair of jeans as I will be making them floor lengh, and out of all jean material. I will also try some with reg material as well.

Thanks again. Now I have to finish checking my posts and getting back to sewing while waiting for these pups to come. Today is the day her temp dropped.

It's funny that you said that because I had it laid out on the kitchen table and I told my oldest that it would make a nice table cloth, boy did she give me a look

That is a beautiful piece of work, you should enter it in the county fair near you. I can tell a lot of work went into it. Congrats!

Here are a few of the quilts I've made recently. I apologize for the pic quality, my digital camera is one of the real early ones and stinks compared to the ones out there now.

This Pink Ribbon Quilt is for my cancer surgeon. If you look real close at the large border print, you will see that it is a bunche of ladies with bald heads, scarves, hats and wigs. First time I've made one with 1/2 square triangles, so I made it with ragged edges to cover up the mistakes, lol

This is my Snoopy Valentines Quilt. (I have a snoopy collection dating back to when I was 6) 13 Log Cabin squares and 12 print blocks with a 4 inch border of even more Snoopy Valentine print. This one hasn't been quilted yet, just the top is finished.

Here is "It's the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown". 13 Log Cabins squares and 12 Peanuts Easter Egg Hunt fabric squares. Another one that hasn't been quilted yet.

This one I call "Teach The Children". I made this for a wonderful lady who taught at my school. If she couldn't reach the student, no one could. Every student, staff, and administrator thought she walked on water, lol. I haven't finished this yet. I'm not sure what to put in her hands that is being sent up to the children. I had thought books/knowledge but couldn't get the books to turn out in away that I liked. I've also thought of butterfiles or hearts. I need to get this one done soon!!
