BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

Wow, great photos! When you sew the squares together to get the raw edges together for the back to fray do you just straight stitch or could you use a decorative stitch?

I was also wondering if you could do some embroidery in some of the squares or applique in some to personalize them a bit more. Or is that not allowed in a traditional rag quilt pattern.?

Thanks for sharing!

I, personally, would only use a straight stitch, but after the straight if you wanted to use a zig-zag on the inside, I see no reason why not. You can try it on one square to see how it would look.

Also, I think an embroidery would be wonderful. I was actually thinking of putting a photo on the fabric for personalization. I was also thinking of applique's while I was putting this together.

Great minds think alike

Ooooooo, I like the red and white checks and plaids that you used. Nice!

On the one that I have in progress, I used a wavy stitch for the "X" on the blocks. Some blocks even got a more decorative wavy stitch.

Thank you Scrambled egg

And Chel---I like the idea of the use of a wavy stitch for the x on the block. Hmmmmm! gonna try that on the one I start cutting out today.
