BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

I haven't been on here in a while due to my old pc biting the dust. I just got this new one up and running. I quilt, sew, crochet, knit some, embroider and garden. I live in the high desert of CA so gardening is a challenge but we don't get the wet, cold, snow storms the rest of you get. we get wind and more wind and the summers are hot enough to fry an egg on cement. Our highest temp was 119 last summer but this winter we got as low as 5. We have a storm on the way that may bring us much needed rain but will also bring mudslides to the areas that had fires last summer. I look forward to stopping by for a chat and will show some of my work when I can. I just finished a top for baby quilt for a great grandson that is due early June and I'm taking the left over fabric and making a tote bag as the diaper bags don't hold everything.

you can't fool me your Baustin! lol lol lol I think that is how it was spelled.

Hi Desert willow, I jump on and off this thread also. I have most of the same hobbies.my brother in law just fixed my old lap top so I can put up photos. Been working on all my unfinished projects , and small things to lighten the stash box this winter. Live on Long Island NY and with this terrible winter haven't been able to do much else.
Speaking of staSh boxes , a yarn shop was going out of business and everything was 50% off . I just couldn't resist. Just what I needed , more yarn.
Heading to the quilt show in Lancaster PA in a couple of weeks; can't wait.

Stay warm and safe all.

Hi Queen Chick,
I feel sorry for you with all your bad weather. we've had no winter to speak of. Usually the mountains are covered in snow although we rarely get it, it's nice to see. Our desert is usually dry but this year drier although we had a big rain go through last week that was wonderful. My garden loved it. I know what you mean about stashes. My cup runneth over when it comes to fabric and yarn. A neighbor that can't crochet anymore gave me her stash of crochet thread so now I have a third stash. She gave me all of her crochet books, mainly doily books but wow! she gave me several dozen. I haven't finished the baby quilt yet. Maybe later today I can get it layered and ready for quilting. I finished the afghan for my daughter and am still working on two tablecloths for Christmas presents. Gardening has taken over a lot of my time since spring is around the corner. All my fruit trees are in bloom and garden peas, cabbage and lettuce are up. We can still have frost until April so will be slower planting the rest of my veggies, especially my tomatoes. Afternoons I reserve for my crafts and evening for crocheting when I'm watching TV. I look forward to keeping in touch.

Sounds like we're cut from the same cloth.going to try and get some onion sets in this coming week.peas go in on st. Patrick's day.
The shop down town has a free knit night and sew knit . I checked it out last night and decided that if I go once a week I will be able to get some work done on my projects when my gardening gets in to full swing. My one friend was there that has chickens so we ended up doing more talking than knitting. All the ladies were knitting minion hats for there grand kids.they are very cute . My friend is going to get me the pattern.
I'd love to see the baby quilt when you finish.
we have to keep in touch.
My Russian Orloff died yesterday so I have to scrub down everything I had her isolated in today. It's hard to do when it's freezing outside.havent a clue as to why.i think this frigid weather is just getting to them.i also lost a Rose Comb a month ago.

Hi Kass, my birds I hatched from you are all doing great.

Glad to hear that.

It is hard to carve out time for sewing and crocheting, but I ususally manage to steal it from less important things like housework! lol lol

Hi!

I sew too (tried to quilt but everything was crooked - oh well, I've got no patience)! Recently, I made two skirts for my neighbor's daughter and baby bibs (AKA baprons-they tie around the back like aprons)
