Oh ya'll got me thinking now!!. Mine is a eyelet skirt and a pleated front blouse with blue satin rose buds that I put on with hot glue, lol. My hole wedding cost me about $125 including food for the small reception!!

This pic isn't all that great, but I did something like what you want to do with your guest names. For my parents 50th, I sent out patches of fabric to friends and family to have them sign something on it. Queen to the floor with enough at the top to tuck the pillows in. Mom doesn't let anyone touch it.

Coyote that quilt is beautiful!!! Did you use a fabric copy program to get that note onto the fabric? Did those folks do their own blocks or did you do them all? Very nice!!

Chevy, I'll look around. I have pictures of my dress but don't think any on the computer. I'll find one and scan it in. My BFF's mom made the dress for me and we all had a hand in sewing it, me, two of my bridesmaids and their younger sisters. I thought it was pretty cool to have such a cooperative effort in it! lol Very cool that your husband was involved too, my husband likes to help me make decorating decisions in the house as well. Sometimes that can be irritating as I will have a specific idea in mind for something but I do like that he takes an interest. So many men don't really care! lol

Coyote, that quilt is a wonderful idea! And what a nice gift for your parents.

I'm getting all sorts of ideas now! lol Now to just find more time and fabric.....

Elven, that is really neat that everyone helped! It will make it even more meaningful in your quilt! I hear ya about your husband taking interest sometimes being irritating! My mom comments on it all the time... my dad doesn't have an opinion on that kind of stuff, so she finds it odd that my hubby does! Most of the time, I do appreciate having his input though, because I can be pretty indecisive.

To answer Scrambled's question, everybody used either a pen or pencil to write something on the patch. We got things about my mom's chicken pot pie, one from each my Mom and Dad's oldest living realitive. All of my mom's brothers and sisters. One special one from a family friend who had passed before the quilt was finished. I even added a patch for those who had passed, my brother, my grandmothers, etc... I just used embroidry thread and copied over them.

I finished the quilt 1 day before the party. Washed and dried it before the 12 hour drive to Jersey!!

Whew!!! I have finally read this entire thread and am sooooooo impressed with the projects and ideas!!!!

I have been quilting for several years and can't pass up a fabric sale so my fabric and book/pattern stash is....shall I say....HUGE.

They have tons of fabrics by Moda, RJR, Kaufman, etc. There are cottons and flannels. Periodically they run end of bolt sales where you can get great prices. Example: If you order 2 yards and there is 2 yds 30 inches left on the bolt....you get IT ALL for the price of the 2 yards.
My last order I got 4 yards and 20 inches of FREE material!

I also like the way the fabrics are divided by color with a connection to other fabrics in that collection. There is a wishlist set up. You can choose how you want it delivered and they take PayPal.

I'll look thru my quilt pictures and see what I can find to post.

Okay here are some photos

My very first quilt back in the mid 70s. It was applique and machine. The quilts underneath is not mine.

one for my grandson from a pattern done on machine with hand applique

One for my niece's baby from a pattern on machine

Bedspread quilt and pillows for my niece's daughter - my design machine quilted and hand tying

quiltd throw for niece and nephew (one for each) for college apartment

Grandmother's Flower Garden, all handpieced top and will hand quilt
It's made from antique flour and sugar sacks from the 30s and 40s. Finished this top about 6 months ago

This quilt is all handpieced blocks. The sashing is machine sewing. I'm hand quilting this one in an oval quilting frame in the den. Started it two years ago. The block patterns are all taken from antique quilts I've seen or researched. I had to resize the patterns for them to fit a 12 block. The next picture is of me working on the sashing quilting designs

I can only work a little at a time because of my health. It is something I enjoy doing.
