Beautiful yarn itsy! Very nice red, like the contrast with the gray.

Went to a fleece sale this past Friday. Came came home with 22 pounds of white, gray, and brown ready to spin roving, (Romney, Jacob, and Icelandic) to split with another spinner as well as 3 raw multi colored Jacob, 1 white Romney, and a brown Lincoln fleeces to de-grease in warmer weather. In the meantime the house smells like a flock of sheep have moved in.

This might be a new strain of chicken math. No eggs and no crowing roosters. I am telling myself all the wool adds insulation to the house..

I think there is a fiber event happening this coming weekend in Newport, Or if that is not too far from you.

By any chance does anyone know where to find large clear plastic garbage bags? The fleece bags had labels stapled on to them. I think I should get them in new bags. Thanks.

The dyed Romney is by a wonderful person on Etsy named: ExpertlyDyed. I've purchased from her several times now and we're going to be working together so I can carry some of her hand dyed yarn at craft events. I'd recommend her to anyone who is looking for hand dyed anything!

The gray is a naturally colored, blended sheeps' roving. That gray spun up like butter. I wish I had purchased more than a pound now!

Seriously. Fiber arts is good for my mental health. It uses so many of the senses; sight, smell, touch. It is a feeds my creativity. Makes me feel productive. The satisfaction I get from taking dirty, raw wool and creating something that is not only beautiful, but utilitarian. And that is just the yarn! From there is the decision to knit, crochet, weave, et al

Last Saturday, I dyed 8 oz each of 3 colorways. It was a bitter cold and very windy day outside, so I hung them out to freeze dry. Yup, it was blustery out! Considering each color was 8 oz and wool holds a lot of water. The wind was picking up a lot of weight here.




I then spun up 3 oz of each colorway.

I love everything! My top favorite has to be the "204 yards 3-ply Merino spun fingering - worsted weight 01/24/2012" as well as the yarn in the last photo. Your singles on the bobbin are beautiful - very even spinning. I love it. I'm surprised the fiber would dry at all out there in the cold! The more I look at your photos, the more I love all the yarn!!!

Here are some of my last spins:

The first few photos are all of the same yarn. I call it: "Mermaid Hair." Merino, bamboo, firestar nylon, silk noil, and crystal metalic sparkle. I spun this as a single, spun it tighter onto another bobbin, plied it with a very thin gold embroidery thread and then core spun it over a thin mohair/acrylic blend thread. In total - this was spun completely through four times. Apx. 54 yards 4.05 ounces







This next one is what I'm calling "Lover of the Light." It's a hand dyed superwash merino. Apx. 104 yards and 3.98oz



And this next one is called "Sky with Diamonds." It's the same as "Lover of the Light" except I spun in a Perla Trendsetter string of eyelash and sparkle. The photos don't do it any justice at all. You really need to see it in person to see all the sparkle coming from the iridescent strands. Apx. 70 yards and 3.63oz
