BYC Spring 2009 Quilt Block Swap Signups CLOSED BLOCKS IN MAIL 4/17

Quote:
Depending on the pattern of your block, to make 22 blocks you will roughly need between 1 3/4 - 2 1/4 yds total. So if you plan on three colors in your block I would get 1 yd of each color to be safe.

Again, it depends on the pattern. If you look at most patterns it will give you the total yardage for each color or patterned print to make all the blocks for that quilts pattern.

Thanks Chuck, that's the confirmation that I needed. I was thinking 1 yard per color, but had NOT wanted to sit and do the math. UGH. I've found some cute stuff at Fat Quarter Shop.com. I'll order from there.

No problem, Us quilters and hookers gotta stick together, even if our family, friends and SO think we're nuts.

But if you are ordering Fat Quarters, remember that they are only 1/4 of a yard of fabric per each quarter. So that means 4 of them will equal a yard, or maybe a little bit over.

Besides, any leftover fabric will help you build your stash up, and can be used in other projects.

www.connectingthreads.com has their own line of quilting fabric. I beleive it's $5.79 a yard and the same quality as all the big names. Not sure if they have anything suitable for this, but the price is right!
