BYC Spring 2009 Quilt Block Swap Signups CLOSED BLOCKS IN MAIL 4/17

Just wanted to check in here this am.

Deb had to drop, but is no biggie. Life happens, right?

Those that send in the 21 blocks, I will just return the extra block to you.

Have a great day!

My blocks are finished. Will send this weekend. We are having yet another snow storm.

I was wondering how many of you block your blocks. I use the cardboard technique.

It's quite easy. You draw the size square on a piece of thick cardboard I use two pieces glued one on top of the other. Cover it with a piece of saran wrap to protect your block from the pencil or pen mark you made for the square. If your block is a little smaller than the size it's supposed to be you can lightly spray the block with starch (don't drown it) and pin it on the block you have drawn on the cardboard. Be careful to put the pins about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch in from the border. I use a lot of pins. Now spray some more starch. Not too much. Once it's dry, remove and press. Remeasure it. It should be the right size now.

This is mainly for beginners. I did this when I first started to quilt. Now that I have that 1/4 inch presser foot I don't need to. The best investment I have made was that little presser foot. Love it.

The one thing I would like to master but cannot is set in seams. I find this just too frustrating. I can do it but it take me a few times. I have to frog a lot. Does it ever get easier?
