BYC Valentine's Day Hatch-a-Long

Pics
So I candled this eve and found 8 that look good. The 8 were all moving like in this video... (pics of a couple others too)

Yesterday I was just looking over at the eggs, and I realized the positions seemed familiar. Have they moved at all recently?
So I go to test the turner and it's not going! Argh! How long has it been?! I was freaking out.
Checked the connection of the cord and kept trying the turn test buttons. Nada.
Finally unplug the turner and plug it back in, then it moves.
Thinking back, the last time I saw it turn was my last candle when I unplugged the turner to make it easier to set the lid aside (NR 360). So that was 3 days of not turning!
Thankfully now it's going. I've been watching it like a hawk. But 3 days in the middle of incubation? Argh!
I'm going to candle the eggs tonight and hope I might see movement. Although I'm not the best at peering into blue eggs that are so far along, so I won't rely on it.

It may have been reverting to the amount of days to turn from the last time you incubated. There's a setting in there, so now you've reset that same setting. I'm not sure why one would put less than 18 in there though unless it was shut off in the middle of the hatch, and picked up where it left off.

They're at the less critical portion though, as they are moving around themselves. I would expect they'd be okay.

Oh yeah I reset the incubator for 21 days when setting the eggs, and it was turning.
I often just unplug the turner from where it's connected to the top so I only have to navigate the power cord when putting the NR360 top to the side and back on again (fiddly). Then I plug the turner cord back in (which is much shorter).
When I last candled, I did plug it back in, but for some reason it did not connect successfully or had some mysterious electrical interruption that I'm not qualified to guess at (lol). Because as I was frantically pushing the test buttons down without success I looked at the cords and pushed on the turner cord for good measure. It was only when I finally unplugged and plugged it back in again that it started to work.
And there I had been trying to sort out how to replace the turner motor mid-hatch, lol. I've looked at the model of motor in the bottom before (it's only 4 screws to take the undercover off, with the thought that I might need to one day replace it, but I had hoped it would be during downtime not during active incubation.

Thanks for the good thoughts! I sure hope they are all okay!

Well, none of my eggs were viable. Darn it. :(

I knew that was a risk this early in the year, but I had to take a chance anyway. I'm glad I at least have 5 Slick daughters/granddaughters to carry on his blood in my flock. Looks like I'll be ordering chicks this year. I sure hope I luck up and am able to raise another rooster that is as good as he was!
