Shoot. We are having a wind storm and lost power. I am not home so asked my husband to wrap a towel around the incubator to hold in the heat. Hopefully it isn't out for long!
Think power may be back on since I can pull up my camera for my chickens coop and run
I think the temp on mine when we lost power a few years ago was 78???Power was out and temp dropped to 85! Not sure about the damage. Time will tell.
hopefully if anything it just delays hatch a tiny bit but all the babies are still good!! fingers crossed for you!Power was out and temp dropped to 85! Not sure about the damage. Time will tell.
The air cells look fine…..What would cause a bunch of quitters between day 8-14? Guessing most were day 9-12 or so. I lost 6 or 7.... In the 5 hatches I have done I maybe lose 1 that starts developing. 6-7 seems like a lot to me. This is out of 19 that were developing.
Some candling pics to double check I am right on quitters. I did crack a couple I could tell for sure and while you could see a baby it was tiny still.
And are these air cells good for day 13/14 (the ones marked 2-? Are on day 10)
I am hatching for someone else from my town with eggs from his chickens. He drove them maybe 5 min to me. We did have a power outage but only for maybe an hour and I checked my thermometer and it dropped maybe 1/2* in that time. I have a govee thermometer/hygrometer in there that I double checked again before this hatch since the one I just did the air cells seemed a bit small so wanted to be sure it was reading right so that is good. I had one day that for maybe 1/2 hr it shows it was 101.3 but then dropped back down so may be a fluke. the ave temp has been around 99.2-99.6. Since I have an NR360 my govee circles around when the eggs are rolled so the temp fluctuated depending on the spot in the incubator. I can put up a chart from day 7 till today of my temps and humidity. The air cells look fine…..
As far as early quitters, some of my early hatches, there were some that appeared bad that ended up hatching…..did you double check your instruments prior to this hatch? I’ve had malfunctions during hatches, when everything was fine before. Are these eggs shipped or HG? Any other factors that may have impacted development like power outage or extreme temp/humidity change?
I would suggest marking any questionable ones and checking again in a few days for changes
