my October hatches so far…..Hershey, Skittles, and Peanut

It looks naked! What happened?

I have to do a lot of separating of eggs.
You're making me feel so redneck. I cut up the plastic grilles on old box fans and zip tied them together for mine.

Dang, I knew there was a use for that broken fan.
All my breeds are different at hatch.

How wide are the spaces between the bars? Chicks love to find ways to do themselves in.
Would it be in an area that is critter free?

Yes bantam chicks can escape through the bars for sure!!!! I think I had cardboard around the outside

So I have just the one chick that made it . . . one dead chick underneath the broody and no sign of another one that hatched. I’m sad but I recognize that nature is rough and a first time broody is a bit of a wild card.
Moving forward, I live nearby a Cal Ranch store, which has week old chicks. Would it be a good idea to try grafting a few of them onto my broody?
