How does everyone say worcestershire? Because everyone in town says "work-in-sire". It's so weird, lol.
The county / shire is about 100 miles from here, and we pronounce its most famous product simply as if spelled wooster sauce; wooster as in the TV show Jeeves and Wooster (with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, who's probably better known there as Dr Gregory House), and the -shire bit is just left unsaid, but you can tack it on at the end if you want - everyone knows what you're talking about (even if most of them don't know it's made of fermented anchovies). :drool :D
 
Now that I know,,,,, definitely wont be looking for it on the store shelves
It's just a modern British version of Roman garum (the Romans added it to everything, even custard 🤨 ) and Nam Pla and variants in the far east.

I wonder how much of what we all eat we would eat if we actually knew what went into making it... feed threads anybody? ;)
