Having a medical letter in hand regarding the hips and “opting out” to go through the metal detector & pat-down is an option, but getting a TSA Precheck Clearance allows him to be escorted through without any hassle. If it’s worth it to him, he can google “TSA Precheck near me”. Hubby just did it and it was at a Staples store, weirdly enough. Just got his approval and he is already acting smug (and hasn’t even travelled yet using it). FYI, hubby refuses to carry actual travel luggage and wants to carry his stuff in a Wal-Mart bag on the plane for short trips. I die a little inside every time.
