I have no idea. All the "email notifications" thingies are checked on mine but I don't get a single one, and that's fine with me!! I don't want them! But I'm afraid to uncheck them because I don't want to wake a sleeping giant!
It's under preferences when you click your avatar to look at your account information. You have the option whether to automatically follow any thread in which you post a reply. You also have a separate option whether or not to receive email replies.

In preferences, you can pick whether to get notifications by email for your own content, but for watched threads, I think we all defaulted to email alerts. I think you have to unwatch a thread, and then when you re-watch the thread, you have the option whether to get email notifications, say no. I have done that for the busiest of the threads so far, and it worked.
There's a box for fixing that somewhere... If I can find it...I have them checked, I should have been more clear, it is the "PC's" that keep filling my email up and dinging...
pc=private conversation...and I may still just say PMs...
