Santa Fe is expensive to live in, the price of feed is outrageous! Those hippies just like looking like hippies. They're more like Hipsters.

Edgewood has the cheapest feed I've been able to find ($14.99 for a 50 lb bag) but I have to admit I've not looked very hard. I live in Socorro after all. Belen and any of the small towns outside of Albuquerque would be better to live in, in my mind.

That's what I pay here for feed. I've looked into cost of living and it's the same here in clovis as santa fe. Crazy I know but true. Only minimum wage is 7.50 here and 10.39 there. Plus at least there is culture in santa fe.

Fair enough. I actually don't know many people in Sante Fe. The ones I do are... well... the children of rich snobs. Shoot, my friends are snobs too.

One particular snob seems to enjoy "slumming it" when he visits.

Yeah, it is popular with the rich folks I've just decided I would rather be poor in a place with art and music, then poor in a place where the best shopping is walmart, the best restaurant is red lobster, music limited to only country, and art is little old ladies painting flowers. When I wear bright colors I'm stared at like I'm crazy. Even if I can't afford to eat out, or go to shows the art galleries are mostly free, there are tons of free concerts, and the people are different. Yeah, I'm odd lol but I just have to be different I cannot live my life with no beauty, no art, and no stimulating conversation.

Yesterday I got got a notice saying the birds had to be gone by Friday or they would come pick them up. It said that chickens are not allowed in the city which is not true. The ordinances say not within 50ft of a residence and as I live on downtown main street and technically in a commercial area they were not within 1000 ft of a "residence".

6.16.060 Poultry location restrictions.
No person shall keep poultry within one hundred feet of any residence or business establishment, except the residence or business establishment of the person owning or controlling the poultry. (Prior code § 4-4)

Unfortunately it looks like you probably weren't legal, I hope you are able to work something out with the town.

I am mostly trully angry that they put it on the wrong door and that they would have just come, picked them up, and killed them, without me knowing. I know I wasn't legal, that was a risk I was willing to take, in fact I expected it from this small minded town. It's not like they actually enforce it in the mexican part of town. They mostly just spend their time playing their little games. Sorry, I've lived here for 8 yrs, 2 of which being shunned/gossiped about for being weird (owning an art gallery), and I have seen nothing good about this town. All it is is small minded small town people wanting nothing to change and trying to squeeze every last penny out of the poor airforce people stationed here and making sure the people in power keep all the money. City money is spent on toys for the rich including cruises, a dog park (this is not a dog park typre of town!), and buying golf courses. The police are useless except to give you a ticket for going 4 miles over the speed limit, indeed of actually cracking down on the gangs, rapests, and murders. Realestate prices are jacked up so high san diego is cheaper, and we have the most exspensive gas in the state. I gave up on this place a long time ago. I know every city has big problems but there is no good to offset the bad here.
