R.I.P. to my final two hens from the original 6. The first hens we bought were 2 White Leghorns, 2 Rhode Island Reds, and 2 Americanas. Sadly, after 5 full and happy years, all of those 6 hens are gone. The RIRs, one White, and one Americana all died throughout the last 4 years give or take.

Bunny (my Americana) and Anna (my White Leghorn), you were both such loyal layers through your many years, and you lived the longest of the 6. Hopefully you were both happy for your short chicken lives.

5 years, you did an amazing job raising and caring for them . I know they will be missed , they always are,

Thinking of you and knowing you will raise other hens ..

Thank you all. One more died a couple of weeks ago due to a prolapsed vent. She appeared to be better, but the next time I checked on her she was completely stiff.

I do plan on getting some (HEALTHY) chicks in the next couple of weeks. My local feed store is getting in some Salmon Faverolles, Welsummers, Cuckoo Marans, and Orpingtons. I hope to find some Easter Eggers somewhere but we’ll see.
