Are they hard to make?

Just curious about where folks buy their feed and how they like it.

We've been using Dumor pellets from TSC, but noticed the price keeps going up. We tried some other kind (a lot cheaper) for awhile from a lady who delivered, but noticed the girls getting lean, so they're back on Dumor. Our girls free range all day, but they still go into the run to get feed. This month they used up 2 bags of layer feed. We have 20 hens and 2 roosters.

The chicks (15 weeks) are still on Dumor grower feed. I haven't kept track of what they eat. This week we'll process all the roos from this batch, so that should cut feed costs down.

Just thinking of ways to save, but not compromise the health of the chickens.

I just got some feed from a farmer outside of Waynesboro. $17 for a 100 pound bag. it's 15% protein, 2% fat, 4% fiber. It is made of corn, soy, and layer mash. So far the chickens like it, but I have only had it for a week.
