We do the same here! Where do you buy your grain from if I may ask?

We get our grain from http://www.breadbeckers.com/ . There is a local co-op here in Augusta that we order from every quarter. Breadbeckers delivers and we share shipping and get discounts.

Here is a list of co-ops:

Ahh that's awesome

, my family is actually a co-op leader for Bread Beckers in our city, Washington(about 50 minutes away from Augusta), and surrounding cities. I love baking with whole grains, everything tastes so much better!

ETA: Happy Thanksgiving to everyone also

I have trained mine to come running home for the dinner bell. It's easy. Sit with them while giving their favorite treat ( mine love live mealworms ). During the individual hand feeding, I frequently ring a bell. After 2-3 sessions, they come to the coop when I ring the bell. Of course, they expect a treat. Give them one or two, so they don't forget. It saves me a lot of chasing time.

We love our whole grains! My SIL gave me a recipe for 3 cheese bread that I adapted that you should try.

mill 1 1/2 cups hard wheat (use all the flour it makes)
6 oz warm water
2 TBSP sugar (I've used honey in its place...just adjust water)
1 tsp salt
2 tsp yeast
2 TBSP soft butter
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/4 cup parmesan cheese

I use the dough cycle on my bread machine.
Cut the dough into roll size portions and make braided rolls. Let rise. Brush with egg white.
Bake 25 mins at 350F

We've trained ours, too. We have a plastic bottle filled with scratch. We shake the bottle and they come running from wherever they are. I love to see them waddling their fluffy butts !

DH has been raising some meal worms, but I won't touch them.
