My local feed store is going through chicks like crazy!!!! Seems everyone wants chicks this year!!!

Everyone in CA, especially those who resides from the Chula Vista to Oceanside area, should set up a plan, in case the swine flu, aka "H1N1" gets mutated and transfers to chickens and ducks...then its Haywire, CA. Don't put your lives or other peoples live at steak; set up a plan starting now!!!

I suggest we take this matter seriously folks...
 
I suggest...

Clean out all the pens, feeders, wateres more oftenly now and try to keep your chickens from distances from pigs if you are in a farm. I believe cleaner is always better. Just something to be more weary about...

And yes,...if anyone else have suggestions, please contribute.

In my hood...... we are so separated from our food sources that I don't think most of my city has ever seen a real pig.
I do keep a poultry wire top on my run and I think I might need to find a way to keep the wild birds out of the coop. (i leave it open during the day to ventilate) The only contact my birds might have with the flu is from the children at the preschool and the elderly at the homes we visit.
I will be careful though.
