CACKLE HATCHERY A BIG NO-NO!!!!!

I have ordered twice from them, and only one chick had slight spraddleleg. That was quickly fixed with the band-aid method. I will order from Ideal again!

I've had nothing but great customer service at Cackle Hatcheries. They even offered to identify a rooster I was unsure of by an email picture. (Rare breed)

I've read a lot of negative comments about hatchery birds, but we took 10 of Cackle's chickens to the fair and brought home 2 Grand Champion, 3 Reserve Grand Champion, AND
Best Of Show pullet pen Grand Champion! Not too shabby!!!
All in our first year of showing, so we paid for a few mistakes and might have done even better!

Just wanted to share my experience with them.

I ordered my first chickens from Cackle and they all arrived alive. I, too did experience busy signals for days when trying to call but I tried to remind myself that they must be really busy with all those eggs hatching. Did you ever get them in the mail? I don't know if I would buy from them again if I couldn't 'talk' to a customer representive.

I had the same experience with them the FIRST Time.

A month ago I placed an order online and requested they call to let me know when I should be home for the arrival. My phone rang within an hour and less than two days later my chicks were here. Two died after arriving but it was during the awful heat wave we had and they had packed an exta anyway. All in all I was very pleased the second time.

The first time I ordered 15 RIRS and they are now almost 3 months and gorgeous and healthy.

It was frustrating the first time though. I have a feeling your chicks will be fine.
 
I hate to hear about your trouble, maybee it will work out for you. I just made and order of 200 from Cackle on Monday and will be able to coment on them September 12th. Good Luck to you.
 
a friend of mine ordered from cackle and when 6 days after the date of delivery was here with nothing from them he called. Put an order in 2 months prior of the date to have them received "his choice". So he calls to find out what happend and was put on hold for 15 minutes only to have the lady to answer with they no longer ship to virginia and a refund check was being mailed back with information. Just not understanding why they waited this long and for him to have to call to get his money back. Just another reason I handle local hatchers.
