Cackle Hatchery?

I ordered 15 buff orps from them about month and a half ago, I placed my order early so I could pick my date, they will be here this coming Thursday. I feel confident with them, and realize stuff can happen with anyone you order from.

I ordered from them for the first time last year and plan on ordering from them again. They did call me last year because the partridge rocks I ordered weren't available for the ship date I selected. They gave me the choice to either wait until they were available or choose a different breed. I went ahead and chose a different breed. They got here right on time and I only lost 1 out of 40 birds. Cackle is much cheaper than Murray McMurray who I had always dealt with in the past.

I just picked up my 125 from this past Thursday. They were a week later than they were suppossed to be but they called and told me of the delay. They have had more orders this year than they have ever had and they are busy working on hiring more people and putting in more phone lines right now. If you look on their website they have a message to customers about the phone issue and they apologize about the phone lines being tied up. They are great to work with. When we went on Thursday the office was super busy it was crazy, but they had our chicks all boxed up and ready to go! I have lost 1 so far but it was a lot smaller than the rest and I think they just trampled it.

I ordered mine in January and have no definite ship date yet. Five darn Marans are holding up 95 other chicks. Half of the chicks were an order for a friend and I have had to refund their money so they can order their RIR from somewhere else. Someone else who ordered Marans before me said their order is not coming until late June!

I have 50 Delaware pullets, 4 cockrels, and 2 RIR Cockrels that were due to ship march 30th, they were over booked and they called and said they have a 1 week delay due to such High demand this year. They are really nice and always answer any questions you have I am expecting these 56 birds to ship April 6 or 7. Not exactly sure of the date but I will let my postmaster know when I'm expecting them. 1/2 of these are for a friend and we plan to raise Delaware chicks and Red stars next year by crossing the RiR cockrel X Delaware hens. This is my first hatchery experience. I have bought from local people off of craigslist but I might try Meyers next time to see which is better. Both have very low prices compared to Mcmurray.

I received my 20 chicks from Cackle Hatchery a month ago with no problems. The chicks are healthy and thriving and I thought that their shipping costs were very reasonable.

My avatar chicks are from Cackle too. I ordered online… Thirty straight-run, Mille Fluer, OEGBs They called me about a week later. (It says that it will take up to 10 days for them to contact you.) She said they wouldn’t be able to hatch enough Mille Fluers to fill the order before June. (If I remember right.) I asked about and assortment, instead. She said, let me check… and we got disconnected. Ten minutes later, she called back and said, if I wanted, they could ship an assortment of OEGBs the following Monday.
Funny… I was thinking about calling them to ask if I could change my order and get an assortment, anyhow.
They arrived right on schedule. (Early Wednesday morning.) All active, and ready to eat and drink. They’re two weeks old now, and doing great. Including the 8 extras they sent!
This was my first order with Cackle. I ordered from McMurray once, a few years ago, and received healthy chicks from them too.
After doing a search on hatcheries here, I decided to try Cackle.
I’d use them again.

I placed an order with them last night for americaunas, barred plymouth rocks and cayugas... I haven't heard anything yet (though I didn't really expect to!).. but I'm hoping I get them well before JUNE.. my gosh.. that would throw everything out of whack. My first time ordering with them. I usually go with mcmurray.. but their easter eggers weren't available until June 20th!

I put ASAP in my comments box.. anyone else do that? I guess it just depends on what you order!

I've gotten chicks from them in the past and although far from the best quality, they were fine... I don't have anything negative to say about them...

If you want similar chicks though, I've ordered from IDEAL and had excellent luck. MUCH better quality chickens. Closer to the SOP. But that was just with the one breed I ordered from them.

Hope this helps.
