Cakes In A Jar Caution!!!

While looking for more cake in a jar recipes, I came across this site that says it is NOT SAFE. It also says for people to not buy cakes/breads in a jar. Botulism is not killed by the methods in most of the recipes. Anyway, I just bought 3 cases of the jars, and now am afraid to use the recipes.

Actually the cakes are baked in the jars, and then sealed while hot.

It's where you bake the cake in the jar.

You can do it, but just don't store it for any longer than you would a regular cake.

O.P. deserves a medal for catching this. Many of us made these for Christmas gifts! I opened all of mine yesterday. Neighbors ate half of them. I made these three days ago so it was a good thing Notthemomma posted this. I cannot thank her enough! Dh is eating the rest of them LOL They will only keep for a week and just not worth doing unless you bake them up and then remove from jar and freeze them. Personally, I would never make these again.
