Levels/percentages of nutrients is most important.....ingredients could vary.That is a good idea. I don't think everything in conventional mix is necessarily the BEST option for meeting nutrition, and the reasons for putting things in the mix may be influenced by cost/profit/access, but it would be reasonable to look at the ingredients, and see if anything obivous might be missing.
You'd have to do a lot of research to truly understand the tie between the 2.
What each nutrient is for regarding health of birds and the best ingredient for you to provide it.
Even with good research, I wouldn't be able to do the needed testing of ingredients.
