Phillip went to meet his foster momma this morning, a Very cute, sweet Jersey heifer names "Rain". She took him immediately, she was actually trying to reach over the fence for him, lol.
I waited while we tried to get him to use a bottle with her fresh milk in it but he refused again. We finally moved him in with her and he started looking for her udder after he calmed down. She was Really trying to get him back there too, it was really cute.
He hadn't suckled before I left but they were going to call me if he latched onto her.
I got a call about 20 minutes ago & they told me he latched on for about 4-5 good drinks! I asked them to give me a call before they left for the day, just to make sure he's ok, but I am probably going to leave him for the night since he did latch on and suck a couple times. He knows what to do, just needs to keep doing it!
I couldn't thank her enough the whole time i was there. It is a working farm & museum. They have kids out there all the time learning how to care for the animals and milk the cow so it should be a good experience for everyone. They just thought he was the cutest little thing, of course they asked him name right away and i explained why he was named "Phillip" and they just laughed. I hope the little brat keps suckling from her, i really don't knwo what i am going to do if he doesn't figure it out. right now i am just thankful to have found such wonderful people to help.
Thanks for all the help everyone, I will be sure to update when i get news again! And as long as he does good on here he will stay and I will try and get pictures as he grows.
