Calico Cochin Thread

Pics
Love, love, love that coloring! I am trying to get that in my roos but so far I only get girls like this.
Look at his fluffy feet! OMG!

Amy~ I have been so blown away with the babies I have been getting. I have been soooo lucky with my Calico project :)
As far as the blue mottled, I never cared much for them but the little pullet is just so pretty. I'm keeping her as a pet if anything! I'm going to try to pinpoint which hen she came out of and see if I can't produce more~

Your blue Mottled pullet IS very pretty! I love her look and she appears to have great personality so if it were me I also woudl be keeping her.
I hope to start hatching some out now that I have my Mottled roo in with some blue Mottled girls. He has given me a few in the past with black Mottled girls but I sold them all since I do not care for blue as much. However, others do love them and I get so many requests that when I had the chance to pick up some beauties I decided to go for it.

Here is a little roo that I am watching and hoping to be a help in my Calico project. He will probably change too much and become too dark as I have saved numerous ones in the past only to be disappointed but I keep changing breeding birds around with the hopes I find the right "click" again.

Ignore his horrid look. It was spa day and we had not done nails, beaks or banding yet so he and a bunch of others could be moved out to another brooder.

Here is a little pullet growing up free ranging with a partridge Rock hen that hatched eggs from Guineas and many other breeding pens. You notice the keet behind her. There are many other chicks and keets around as she wound up hatching out around 15. I snapped this one and thought it was cute. This pullet is from my buff Mottled breeding program. I use these to try and get Calicos.

I love both those pics. Hope your little guy doesn't get too dark! I have a very sweet partridge rock hen who hops the fence and free ranges every day. She's the runt of my flock. My little silver laced bantam cochin cockerel is starting to follow her around when I let him out to patrol around the cochin coops :)

Amy~ I love the little roo, looks like he has lots of white to me, I'm guessing he's going to be just right when he grows up~ would love to see pictures :)
The little pullet is adorable, she has no black at all? I have my 2 hens I got from Erin that are molting now and I don't see any black coming back in. I know everyone that sees them when they visit thinks I'm doing a buff mottled project. I think I've got enough to keep me busy! Lol
I sold all the Calicos from this years hatches and was ready to start setting eggs again but with them molting, it'll be a little while.
Would love to see pictures of everyone's birds! Keep em coming!
