How many food? You mean that I'm going to butcher?
I have a Lav Orp roo in the fridge right now, was thinking of doing another one soon but -- there's SNOW on the ground today! Doesn't make me feel like working outside.. He might wait until this weekend.

Awesome cockerel in your avatar Mike.

Snow????
OMG! I got up to 60 degrees this morning and had to come in for a few minutes rest as I was sweating like mad just now. The Dakotas are gorgeous but I could not live there and never, ever would I live in Kansas or Oklahoma. OMG, I thought I would die while visiting those states.
Snow, in Oct. LOL I guess us southerners think of snow as something we might see in the winter. I do love it though!

No, I meant roosters. My phone is correcting spelling as I typed roos. My computor is down so no pics for a while.

Phones... I don't know how many cockerels I'm keeping.. I'll have to count them one of these days. Or maybe not.. I might shock myself. Of the 3 month olds I'm keeping 4 & I'm down to 4 left of the ones I have for sale. Plus there's 4 more cockerels in the nursery, 2 of whom I'm thinking of as keepers..

and there are at least 2 cockerels in the brooder...
Lynne, some of these are Cinnamon's chicks!

Plus, you know, Ruby Rod and Brandon, and then all of the teenagers.

I have enough roos.
I AM done hatching Cochin chicks for the year, though!

I have Ivan, Todd and Puppy for my Calico project, plus some of the girls are pretty light yet, too.
& Sugar and Candy have kept much of their white. I think I have a good foundation. I'm sure I'll have eggs to trade you, Amy

Last winter was pretty darn mild for South Dakota.. I've been wondering if this year Mother Nature isn't going to make us make up for it. Luckily my coop isn't far from the house. .. I might have to tunnel through the snow to get there, but at least I won't have to tunnel very far..
