Ooooh, I come down to Turlock twice a month for doctor appointments, and I would love to have a couple of pullets. Are you going to sell them?

I just sent you a pm on their breeding. I have tried 3 times today......stupid computer!!!!!! Couldn't blame it on the operator could I???? LOL
They didn't come from a hatchery. I stopped buying hatchery chicks a few years back & held on to my EE that were from a local farm lady til just recently.
I am a little on the old side.....LOL Retired & the chickens are my pleasure so I kind of indulge myself & am loving it. We live on a 6 acre ranch & are not travelers so pretty much stay at home & mess with whatever we what around here.....LOL. I have more chickens already than I ever know what I am going to do with but I am trying to raise SQ chickens & great assortment of egg colors too. I have been selling their hatching eggs regularly for $4 a piece so I think the chicks will be $8. I get $10 for my BCM chicks when I have any available, but truth be known the Wheatens do as well & their eggs have equaled the BCM on the color chart.
Isn't it a wonderful feeling to be really excited about something?????

Just checking in. Leaving in a while for the weekend.

I started collecting eggs and then realized they'd be sitting until I get back, so I'm tossing everything in the bator before I leave.

If I'm collecting from anyone in here, please remind me. I'll be sleeping in a tent and can't find the air mattresses, so I'll be a little out of it when I get back. Brain doesn't work as it is.

OK 1 or 2 more posts and I'm going to pack the car before I fall asleep and miss my whole weekend.

Yes it is! I'm an "early" retiree as is my husband, we just put in an offer on a lovely home on 5 acres, and after lots of thought would like try raising SQ Wheatens as well

Congratulations Linda,
I am soooooooo happy to hear that. I have a dozen of Jeremy's eggs in the incubator too. We met at a BYC BBQ last Oct at Cheryl's home in Lafayette & I have been following the threads. Jeremy was kind enough to collect eggs for me & we met in Tracy & I got them last week. I am so hoping they do well. They are best blue I have so far. I know he has a "blue" goal.I prefer the blu-ish to the green-ish & have been hatching from Ameraucana breeders all over the country buy I must say most of the egg color is more green than blue. Did you see the Teal egg that Pips& Peeps (I think) posted a few weeks back........AWESOME!!!!!

all you blue egg peeps: anyone with some nice pullets (dont care about SQ) that come from eggs that are actually blue, please PM me if you have any available!
thanks!

I was at that BYC get-together!

Gosh I am so saddened about what's happened to Cheryl's lovely home and her flock and all that horrible business. But that's another tale for another thread.....

I drove to Jeremy's house in Oakland to get my eggs - his little Corgi (in his avatar) is ADORABLE "in person."

I am kinda hoping to someday have a little "Foothills" BYC meet and greet at the house I'm buying, but folks who come have to be lovers of mixed flocks and mutt chickens.

I just like 'em all and haven't gotten into breeding for breed's sake.

We all find our enjoyment in different ways. I think that's lovely. I talk "chicken" to folk in my doctors waiting room or people at the feed store or Tractor Supply or wherever they are presented to me. Alot of people just have "mutts" & love them....no problem there.
I just got back from my butchering class in Atwater & thoroughly ehjoyed myself. We must have killed, plucked & dressed 10 chickens & enjoyed visiting while we worked. Now I am more eager than ever to set my equiptment up. I will start eating my culls.....LOL
