California Greys???

Pics
Yeah, the hard thing with my yard birds is not stepping on them in the morning. Haha

Haha. Yup. My Rocks, Wyandottes, Australorp, Maran, and Dominique have a large yard with plenty of green grass, areas to dust, and they still hang out at the gate waiting for me to let them out if they see me. They run to mob me when out ranging. They just see a big, two legged food giver. Are you in the town of West TX or the area of West TX?

Area. I'm in the lower panhandle.

Gotcha. Fairly dry environment around there. That's a good environment for chickens. One of the best fiddlers came from that area as well. His name was Benny Thomasson. I've only been to East TX. Courteous people there compared to most areas of California.

Finally got good pictures of Wiley, my Cali grey pullet (7 weeks old)

being NAUGHTY and riding my broilers!!

Thanks guys. Looking good. Hey, are the males quite a bit lighter even at five weeks or so?

I ordered some barred leghorn pullets from Privett and they look more like the California Greys to me. Is there any real difference since they are all hatchery birds?

There are several different breeds that carry the barred gene. California Greys are a Barred Rock rooster x White Leghorn hen. If you ordered California Greys, that's what you got. If you ordered something else, you'd be wise to ask the hatchery you ordered from.
