Good Job on the Netting!

Miranda has not laid an egg in a couple of months now. Next I hope to get a nice blue one from her hatch mate. And of course I am very excited because somehow I have three different types of Olive eggers now! Does anyone know what color eggs CL X Penedesencas lay?
hopefully olive lol. I have heard a few people question it on another thread.

Are you looking for the Black ones!

I love black chickens. I don't know why, but it might be because of their green sheen in the sun. They look so shiny!

Incubating eggs for others is not much of a problem around here. Sewandgrow lives in Turlock and Wolfracks lives in your area. I have been known to hatch for others too.

Hopefully someone on here will either have them or know where you can get some.

Also, There will be a lot of very good breeders going to the Stockton Show. You may be able to arrange for a Langshans breeder to get some chicks to you there.

OR4-HMom might know of someone with them on the Oregon Thread?

I bet I will know in 6 months!

Delicious! They have very dark yolks and are best scrambled or used for baking. The white is stiffer, so fried eggs are a bit tough compared to chicken eggs.

They turn baked foods a very nice yellow color--even more yellow than the eggs from my chickens.

I just sold some excess duck eggs today. I have way more than I need. People weren't kidding when they said when your birds start laying - the eggs would roll in like crazy! We cannot eat them fast enough. haha I am making egg salad this weekend though. YUM!

I made scones today. Any baked good that is semi healthy- I am whipping them up lol. Since we don't buy snack foods- we rely on my moments of betty crocker to whip up stuff. Anyone every made bearnaise sauce? Or eaten it? Is it good?
Bernaise Sauce is delicious! I have had it on File Mignon

You have to be careful when you heat it--the sauce will "break" separate on you.

Sorry I did not answer this post sooner.

You got it!

I have 8 chicks from the hatch. 6 are CL X Penne and two are OE X Barnie.

Here are a couple of pictures of three of the CL X Pennes.

They are supposed to be auto sexing but I do not know if that is by the brown vs the darker color or if it is by the little dot on some of their heads.

I bet Deane could tell me.

cute. The babies look like the others I have seen. In Crele penedesenca the chicks are more solid color. males have a spot but it is real big almost the whole chick which makes it look grey. females are nut brown. I am not as familiar with Legbar chicks. alot of others on this thread have them though and will know what the girls look like.

My Legbar boys were gray. The girls were darker with brown. These chicks have some black and some brown but all of them have a very pronounced chipmunk pattern. Some have spots but that was misleading with the cls. My guess is that the darker ones are pullets and the Brown ones are cockerels?

How fun this is!

I am getting too tired to do more so I will get pictures of the Barnie OE chicks tomorrow.
