Yay, a woman that buys a freezer lamb from us every year has been bugging me for some more roosters. We just went out and sorted today, she's picking up 15 boys tomorrow morning. Her only question...................do you have more?

Sure I could put them in the freezer myself, but do I want to right now? No..............15 less boys to feed and add to the crowing around here.

Wow!

I processed two of the Dorking Crosses today. I think one was a SG Dorking roo X Barred Rock and the other was crossed with a Black Australorp. They were 13 weeks old and dressed out at 3.13 and 3.14 pounds! Great for 13 weeks!

Three more tomorrow and now more crowing at my place!

The Sour Cream pie crust is great for sweet pies, like pumpkin and etc.




I made the double crust version of the Lard pie crust this weekend for an Apple Pie. I used Leaf Lard(Thanks Kim!) It rolled out nicely.

This is a good Pecan Pie recipe!

Thank you I will try those out. What is Leaf Lard?

Tain loves work. So he doesn't much care what is going on in the background as long as it isn't a threat and I don't point it out to him. He has amazingly high prey drive, like all working line GSDs, but I cap that and put it into a ball and jobs to do. So far he would chew off his own left paw if it meant he got a ball. He is now being trained to guard and herd the chickens since I moved to CA from Alaska.

Too cold for me. When we were out sorting chickens, I had on two sets of sweatpants, two shirts, a sweatshirt and two pairs of socks.

Have I ever mentioned I'm always cold? LOL

I used to be, now it's my husband who gets cold.

My current labs don't know much...haven't had time to train them (kids take up too much time). But, they don't go off the property, have a great recall and protect the chickens like they are family. They don't dig, bark excessively or chew anything that doesn't belong to them. But they barely know sit/stay

Which bothers me since I've always liked to teach my dogs every command I could. These girls are very willing to please and will do anything for a treat. Just got to find time to teach them more.
