It is scary how many critters want to eat our chickens!
:fl I hope you and Molly find your missing chickens!

I am so Happy to say. I found my Bresse in the Garden this morning...ALIVE! Can you believe it. A bright white chicken left out all night, with no cover ALIVE.
I am so happy... My garden is fenced off. Somehow she got in during the day and must not have known how to get out. She looked at me like...MOM..you left me out all night.. :( needless to say, she got hot oatmeal and mealworms for breakfast .... ;)

I was going to say that the Skunk would spray you!

Growing up, my Dad would shoot them with a 22. Once he made a big mistake and used a shotgun.

Have some friends that were going to try and re-locate it, didn't work at all. 22 is best, quick and the trap won't be smelly.

I am so happy you found yours too! I already gave mine left over home made Stir Fry tonight! I will have to find a different treat for them tomorrow.
Quote: Thank You! The NYD hatch a long had more than 5700 eggs set. We ill be seeing thousands of baby chicks soon!

I don't know if this is appropriate to ask you all to keep a friend in your thoughts and prayers today..:( ...My son's 4-H poultry leader had a terrible thing happen because of this rain last night.

A single fence board came loose and a neighbors dog's got into her yard.

The dogs killed 18 chickens, a pair of hand raised turkeys (breeding pair) and her prize winning geese and gander (breeding pair just under 3 years old).  I'm just so sad for her.  This has kind of made me realize how fortunate I am and made me stop complaining about the time and effort it costs to care for my chickens.  I hope none of you lose chickens or pets to any more preditors.

I am so sorry for your friends loss. I'm not sure where you live but, I would be willing to send them some eggs to hatch... Or even incubate some for them.
I don't ship chicks. They would have to pick them up. Just let me know if I can help ease the pain.
I had a bear devastate my flock a few years ago. It was a devastating.... I had dead chickens scattered all over my property .... It was awful ....
Molly

P.S. did I mention we made bear Salami....LOL
